Burning Man 2009 Lineups Part 2

“Simpler Times” – The Do Lab meets El Circo. – 10:00 and Biology

Whoa. So much glitchy goodness and dubstep on this lineup. I can’t wait to see this camp. As far as I know, The Do Lab has been absent from the playa for the past 2 years so, it will be great to have them back. No set times listed yet, but here is an artist list. (source: Picks: Tipper, Bassnectar, Oscure, Kraddy, Kitty-d, An-Ten-Nae… just about everybody really.

For the first time ever The Do LaB and El Circo are joining forces to create an unforgettable visual sound camp, Simpler Times, at Burning Man this year.

The merging of these iconic communities of San Francisco and Los Angeles is sure to produce one of the most epic and memorable places to be on the Playa with the creative explosions, amazing musicians and mind blowing performances.

Join us out on the Playa at 10:00 & Biology!

Burning Man 2009 – Big Sound Camp Lineups part 1 – Opulent Temple and Root Society

Its about that time people. The Bay is humming with activity of busy burners bouncing and banging away at art projects, shade structures, and other such tomfoolery. Home Depot is out of rebar… and that can mean only one thing: there’s only one more week until Burning Man!!!

I think the best way to experience Burning Man is to embrace the chaos, and just follow your ears to the best tunes. Those tunes could be a huge sound camp, an art car, or even a spontaneous dance party in the street. The best times are the spontaneous times. However, being aware of some of the larger happenings can be helpful from time to time.

The best roundup of big sound camp lineups can be found here at the Rockstar Librarian’s site. She puts all this info onto a single spreadsheet and posts it a few days from departure. A highly recommended download once its posted. There is also a great list on posted by Pleasure Sean of similar info and worth checking out.

So, here’s some TENTATIVE lineups at some of the bigger soundcamps. Use this info wisely grasshopper!

Covered in this post are Opulent Temple and Root Society.

Opulent Temple – Esplanade & 2:00

Opulent Temple Picks:

Wednesday: Beats Antique, Cheb I Sabbah, Dutch

Thursday: Donald Glaude, Armin Van Buren, Infected Mushroom

Friday: DJ Dan, Carl Cox, Christopher Lawrence – House heavy lineup on Friday

Supposedly they will have a bar there this year. Monday and Tuesday are probably good days to get your psy-trance on, if you’re into that sort of thing. (Which I am.) Unfortunately this camp gets seriously PACKED and can turn into “too much to handle” pretty easily, no matter what the music is.

Root Society – Esplanade & 2:00

3 domes this year. Bassnectar and Freqnasty on Thursday will be totally bananas. The dome was super packed for this last year and you had to post up outside the dome if you wanted to bust a move propa’. David Starfire on Thursday should be the hotness as well.

Theme Camps Unite Like Voltron for ‘Sand by the Ton’ – Sat 7/11/09

******************************UPDATE 7/11/09 – 11:30AM ***********

False Profit gave a sneak peek at some of the fire art and one of the stages. (Via False Profit Twitter)

Wow. It seems like every big sound camp and art car in the Bay Area is involved with this event: Opel/Opulent Temple, the Space Cowboys, False Profit, Nuero Weapon, Symbiosis, Gravity Point, and Big Art Studios.

Supposedly there is sand, swimming pools, circus shenanigans, a 50 foot long boat suspended off of cranes, djs, bands, and probably flame throwers, as it wouldn’t be a burner party without some form of conflagration. Don’t miss the chance to see Beats Antique drop cuts from their new album, and the Mermen rock out on the surfin’ safari tip. It should be the Burning Man fundraiser of the friggin’ summer or so don’t sleep on it or you will be one sad panda. More info can be found over here.

The Do Lab Lineup for Coachella 2009

I got this a while back from the Do Lab Mailing list. With misting tents and the most face melting beats, its sure to be a hot spot on the polo fields this year. If you are there on friday don’t miss Beats Antique! Straight from Oakland, the band consists of two djs and a professional bellydancer! I saw them open up for Bassnectar and it was amazing. Don’t miss it!

“We can’t wait to show you our new Coachella installation!

Many of you know that every year The Do LaB creates a massive art installation inside the Coachella Arts and Music Festival, complete with our favorite underground music, water misting madness, custom Do LaB structures and performances by the Lucent Dossier Experience. This year we’re going bigger than ever with our vision and lineup. Our installation is, by far, our largest creation yet and we’ve put together a collection of music artists from around the country that are sure to make you dance until you drop. This may be your best chance to see The Do LaB in full effect this summer as we unleash everything we’ve got on our Lucent Misting Oasis. You are officially invited so get a ticket or two and come kick it with us!”
